Myself and my boyfriend stayed in Wildoats 2 lodge for 4 nights.

We couldn't have asked for a more lovely stay. We so peaceful and relaxing. We went out visiting york, just stayed in and curled up on the sofa, and spent time in the hot tub. Just some advice, take a few tea lights to put round the hot tub. It makes it so cozy and romantic.

    Hopefully be back this winter.

  • Bri and Julie Posted: 27/08/2009 15:39:38 Just come back from our 6th visit..... and already booked for next year, love the lodge, hot tub, and especially the peace and quiet
  • Chris and Carolyn Jardine from United Kingdom Posted: 11/08/2009 11:39:16

We have visited yellowtop 4 times now and are due back for a 5th visit shortly. It is very quiet and relaxing and the lodges offer great comfort. The site itself is peaceful and well maintained and the overall service is excellent.

    Try it and see!!!!!!!

There is plenty to do in the surrounding area and the warm welcome fom the Manager, Paula, ensures the break at the site goes without any difficulties. The site is safe for children and the last time we were there, just a few weeks ago, there was a good game of 'rounders' going on in the evening.

    Chris

  • Debbie & Ian Posted: 07/07/2009 15:41:46 Had the most relaxing weekend ever. The cabin was fantastic along with the lake and all the greedy little ducklings. I have one suggestion though and that would be to put a canopy over the hot tub in case it rains, other than that a fantastic retreat and will certainly return in future.
  • Chirs and Alistair and Judy Posted: 02/07/2009 23:45:22

Great break - lovely accomodation and hot tub a great hit with our 9 year old!

Not visited this area before and very pleased as loads of places to go locally - york railway museaum a must - entry free!

We've had a fab time hope furture visitors do too!

  • Katie and Darren from United Kingdom Posted: 02/07/2009 23:31:59

Beautiful cabin, home from home and spotlesly clean.

Hot tub perfect way to warm up after a freezing day out on the moors (Helmsley is a Quaint Village/town good for starting walks from)

Definately recommend Joffco's restraunt in Spalding Moore - outstanding food, service and cosy/romantic setting. Quite a smart little restraunt - ladies would be out of place in skirts ( I only had smart jeans and heels and felt ok).

Only seats 12 people so book ahead, it's BYO beer or wine as well. they also only take cash or cheque.

    Thanks for a great retreat.

  • Sue and Nigel Posted: 02/07/2009 23:16:20

We've had a wonderful relaxing time at yellow top. the lodge is excellent and very well equiped. We've love the hot tub and now want one at home on our decking!! (well we can dream)

We must do this more often! Thanks very much.

P.s. we had luch at Ye Olde Red Lion and despite other comments made it was definitely back to a good standard. We'd highly recomend it for food and friendliness of the bar staff.

  • Jamie and Miz Posted: 02/07/2009 23:05:57

Fantastic, realxing break, lodge is very cosy and give a home from home feeling.

the hot tub is a revelation, would love to have one back home

would definitely come again. We also had a meal at the Olde Red Lion in Holme On Spalding Moor and it was great, very tasty.

  • Kay and John Posted: 02/07/2009 22:54:39

Wonderful break. Hot tub fantastic. Visited a few parks in Hoseasons brochure brochure. Hooks by tub and around lodge brilliant. Also added extres like washing up liquid and towel etc nice touches. purchased shower hat (very unglamerous for romantic break) but did the trick when using hot tub in the rain.

Fantastic meal at the indian restraunt 'the indian elephant'. left details. this is a changed of ownership fron the Jefferson arms shown on the yellow leaflet but well worth a visit.

    Wonderfull break, over to quickly.

  • Rob and Nikki from Sheffield, UK Posted: 02/07/2009 22:22:53

Came from sheffield for a lazy retreat and thats what we had. We stayed in the cabin all day popping in and out of the hot tub. we have both had a fantastic time, just what we wanted. Cabin is everything we wanted and more.

    p.s. will defo be back

  • Ruth and Sora Posted: 02/07/2009 21:33:15

Excellent cabin, very warm and comfortable, spent most of the time in the hot tub! very relaxing.

The chinese in Holme On Spalding Moor was very tasty, well cooked.

We had dinnder at Joffco's it's best to book and remember to bring a bottle. the food was nice although the setting was a surprise.

Next time we come I'll remember my fishing rods.

    Thanks.

  • Justine and Michael Posted: 02/07/2009 20:22:14

We have had a brill holiday - the lodge was fab!

We will definately be back soon. Thank you.

  • K and M Posted: 02/07/2009 20:14:51

Had a lovely relaxing time, lodge very comfirtable, especialy the bed! all facilities were excellent

Fishing is at a high standard and expect a fish every minuet or so. Will take most standard bait but I owe floating bread! York is a lovely place to visit but only clomb the minster towere if your fit ( 275 steps are a killer!)

All in all a fab time and will defo recomend and be back soon!!

  • D and K from United Kingdom Posted: 02/07/2009 19:56:22

Had a wonderfully relaxing time, long lie ins and plenty of quiet time without the kids!

Lodge is a home away from home, very comfortable and beautifully done out.

Had an extremely disappointing meal at the Olde Red Lion in Holme on Spalding Moor so wouldn't recommend it but maybe the chef was having an off day. The weather has been horrible but we didn't care because we didn't want to go out! fabulous place and will recommen to our friends.

  • Colette and Rob Posted: 30/06/2009 17:10:59

After having to cancel in January due to ill health, we eventualy rebooked - it was well worth the wait.

Lodge is beautiful and so warm

Hotub - Added bonus - great.

Had a lovely relaxing time, we'll have to return because Rob was gutted he he didn't bring his fishing gear.

    Thanks very much.

  • Gail and Rich Posted: 30/06/2009 16:58:36

What can i say that hasn't already been said?

My husband and I came for 4 days and it was so relaxing we have loved it, in fact as a massive "liverpool" supporter I cannot believe I wasn't bothered about finding a pub that showed them in the champinons league. At the start of the week I had said 'no way am i missing that!'

It's just been amazing in the hot tub. Just a tip... turn outside lights out and you'll be under all the stars (there not as noticeable with it on).

Beverley is a nice little town stopped off for luch at Altisidora pub wich is on the way(2meals for just 10 pounds) Very nice. Worth a walk around.

The best pub to go to is 8 pounds in a taxi and at spalding moor. 3 pubs together 'blacksmith's arms, kingfisher and ye old red lion.

Red lion is georgeous and outstanding food, if it's weekend you sit in the restaurant but it's just the pub in the week but still nice (very friendly too).

Havn't even got dressed today, just chilled and used hot tub.

    All in all though..

    it's been FANTASTIC!!!

Will be back in september for 1st wedding anniversary.

    Thanks Paula

  • Linda and Steve from United Kingdom Posted: 30/06/2009 16:34:03

Another fab visit. So relaxing, and I swear that bed gets comfier and comfier.

Hot tub as fantastic as ever. Just what you need after a manic December/January at work.

Thanks again Paula, you are a star.

    XXX

  • Colin and Dawn Posted: 30/06/2009 16:25:32

Well our fourth visit was the most difficult of all. Difficult to get out of bed. Difficult to get out of the hot tub, found it difficult leaving this relaxing cabin at all.

We came to chill out and that is exactly what we did. Only left the cabin 3 times, once to go to beverly and have thir amazing fish and chips. The outlet centre and of course historic York itself.

Well we are just off to york now. Our batteries are fully recharged and I am now ready for the dreaded ofsted inspection on wednesday.

Enjoy yourselves, we did! And think of everyone back in the real world rushing around while you are chilling.

Thanks to Paula for another superb cabin. See you again soon. X

  • Keylieghn and Ryan from United Kingdom Posted: 30/06/2009 16:14:57

Had a boss time, just chilled out, although it did lash down when we got in the got tub.

Amazing break before my boyfriend goes to afganistan.

Couldn't meet a nicer person than Paula, gave us perfect directions to get here and how to get to Beverley.

    Be back soon!!

p.s. first time i've done this and won't be the last!

  • Allan and Angela from United Kingdom Posted: 30/06/2009 16:04:11

What a find, we had a lovely relaxing time troughout our stay.

The lodge is excellent in every way and, as per practically every other comment, the icing on the cake is the hot tub. (strange experience when there is frost on the ground, stepping into the warmth of the hot tub.

Did bring my fishing gear but unfortunatley didn't get around to trying the lake out, another reason, if any was needed, to make a return visit. Will come again.

  • Sach and Soraya from United Kingdom Posted: 30/06/2009 15:54:24

Amazing lodge. So romantic. Had a great time.

    Hot tub champagne = FANTASTIC

Hopefully will return in the summer!
